See it in action

To showcase the full potential of this all-in-one powerhouse, we’ve collaborated with established cinematographers to produce a series of short films shot entirely with the Burano. Let’s take a look into the behind-the-scenes of how each team brought their cinematic visions to life.

At the Motel by Stefan Duscio, Sam Corlett

Hailing from Australia, award-winning cinematographer Stefan Duscio – the mastermind behind critically-acclaimed works like The Dry, Shantaram, and The Invisible Man – created a cinematic film titled At the Motel. It was written and directed by Australian actor Sam Corlett, improvised with just a small cast and crew over one weekend.

The poetic, non-linear film reflects Duscio’s bold creative choices, from the expressionistic colour palettes down to the dynamic highlights and detailed shadows. He says, “I really wanted to put the camera’s dynamic range to the test. And the Burano passed with flying colours.”

This short film is “a fusion of different characters, flavours and spaces”, all coming together to weave a rich tapestry of interconnected stories. To achieve that, the team played with the lens flexibility to cater to diverse shooting styles, depending on the type of scenes. The result is a truly immersive piece that transcends the boundaries of traditional storytelling.

“This camera is a catalyst that will make people go faster in their jobs because it’s easier,” says Fahmy. “And you can do it alone, or with little assistance.”

For Jorrie, he wanted to put the camera to the test in various challenging environments.

The Burano is capable of tracking fast-moving subjects with exceptional focus accuracy and clarity, which is evident in many of the outdoor cycling scenes featured in Pedal. The team also depended a lot on its autofocus capabilities, especially when it comes to candid reality-style shots.

“It’s a game-changer,” he concludes.
